Sholing Football Club are delighted and extremely proud to announce the next stages in our partnership with Levi Colwill, the Chelsea FC and England International footballer.

Levi is working directly with Sholing Football Club to create a hub for the legacy and development of football in the local area for those that would never normally be granted the opportunity.  Starting with Levi personally providing the latest generation 3G pitch to enable the club to deliver high quality playing experiences at every level but, as importantly, allow Sholing FC to develop as a footballing facility integrating with the local community providing opportunities which have not been available previously.  This is the first in a series of exciting developments at the club, including the launch of The Levi Samuels Colwill (LSC) Academy.

“This is a very exciting time for Sholing Football Club being supported by Levi Colwill.  We are really proud to be working alongside Levi.  His family values echo the history of Sholing FC and, taking these values forward, Levi wants to give something back to his roots and provide opportunities for the next generations. As part of the wider LSC Project there will be more announcements coming in the future”.

Paul Knott, CEO, Sholing Football Club – December 2024

Levi’s connection with Sholing FC has been, and still is, very close to his heart having attended the club from the age of five to support his three uncles, Barry, Byron and Daniel Mason, brothers to Levi’s mum, Deborah.

At 11, Levi was a proud mascot at the 2014 FA Vase Final at Wembley Stadium against West Auckland Town which Sholing FC successfully won, 1-0, a significant moment in the club’s history which he holds close to his heart.

Now at 21, playing for Chelsea, England and often returning to the South Coast, where he currently calls home, Levi can regularly be spotted at The Mortgage Decisions Stadium watching his brother Jayvon ‘JJ’ Colwill where, in July, JJ debuted for Sholing FC following in his family footsteps.  Always keen to ensure JJ is driving forward himself, Levi often stays out of the spotlight, a true reflection of the grounded individual he is.  Always giving back to support his roots and always grateful for the journey he is on.

Daniel Mason, Sholing FC’s current No.9 and Levi’s uncle commented – “It’s going to be really special.  We joked about it years ago when he was coming up as a youngster  ‘Imagine if you could set your own thing up when you’re older and have your whole family working for it’  and now it’s becoming a reality!  Sholing FC has always been a special place for Levi.   He can be himself here and not this ‘Premier League Footballer’ which is very important to him.”

Media attention has, understandably, been significant as part of this exciting journey with The Athletic covering the story and gaining international coverage.  If you wish to check out the full article you can do so here.
