A tough afternoon for the Boatmen as Plymouth Parkway ran out deserved winners on a rainy afternoon in Devon.

Michael Folivi had levelled for Sholing right on half time after Reece Thomson had opened the scoring. But second half goals from Tom Dean and Callum Hall gave Parkway all three points.

It was a bumpy start to proceedings at Bolitho Park, with the hosts finding themselves in front after six minutes, with Reece Thomson heading home from close range.

Parkway remained on top throughout most of the first half and were almost two in front just before the half-hour mark, but a stunning stop from Charlie Searle kept the score at 1-0.

Sholing did battle their way back into the game and were almost level through Jake Hesketh, but the skippers shot flew just wide of the target.

The equaliser did eventually come in first half stoppage time. After some lovely work down the left hand side, Blaise Riley-Snow sent in a wonderful cross for Michael Folivi to flick a deft header into far corner of the net.

That was, however, as good as it got for Sholing as the hosts came out fighting in the second forty-five and were back in front on the hour, with Tom Dean heading home at the back stick.

Parkway remained in the ascendancy and doubled their lead with five minutes left to play after Callum Hall provided the finishing touch from a superb cross from Dean.

It wasn’t to be for Sholing as it finished in defeat, now needing to dust themselves off ready for their fixture with league leaders Merthyr Town next up at the Mortgage Decisions Stadium on Good Friday, kick off at 3pm.
