The Boatmen are back on home turf for the first time in over a month as we welcome South Coast neighbours Gosport Borough to the Mortgage Decisions Stadium.
Sholing will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to three matches in what is the first game back on home soil since the 3-0 victory over Uxbridge on 23rd September. After four straight defeats in all competitions, Ross White & Paul Doswell’s men have regained some momentum with the hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Taunton coupled with a battling 1-1 draw at Chertsey on Tuesday night, with the now departed Craig King proving the hero in both games as he saved from the spot twice.
There will be a new man in between the sticks against the Boro, with TikTok sensation Declan McCarthy signing from Fareham Town on Thursday. Declan isn’t a complete stranger to the Boatmen, as he featured for Fareham in our 3-0 victory at the Cams Alders Stadium in the FA Cup back in early September.
It promises to be a stern test for Sholing, with Gosport coming into the game off the back of a 6-1 hammering of Bracknell Town on Wednesday night, a victory which saw the Boro leapfrog the Boatmen into fifth place on goal difference.
Head-to-head
Gosport have proven tricky opponents for Sholing in the last couple of seasons, with Saturdays visitors winning three of the last four meetings between the two sides, the latest of which being a 4-1 victory at Privett Park on New Year’s Day. Sholing did avoid defeat in the last home meeting with the Boro, managing a 1-1 draw back in August of 2024.
