Four days after beating Laverstock 4-2 Iain Calder was forced to make major changes with six of the sixteen stepping up to first team duties due to suspensions and injuries. Also injuries and work commitments took another two players out of the squad. There was a debut for Harry Cook and with eleven players 18 or under it was another youthful line up. It was a dank day at the Universal Stadium and it was a slow start to the game but it was Alton who made the brighter start and they were first on the scoreboard.

Alton scored on 10 mins through Arron Cresswell, but the Boatmen were only behind for 70 seconds when Luke Bergg equalised. Regan Hitch was caution by referee Hillier on 22 mins and from the resulting freekick Jean-Luc Ramdin got on the end of it to put the Boatmen in front. 6 minutes later Jean-Luc Ramdin increased the boatmens lead with his second goal. Eight minutes before half time Luke Bergg scored his second goal to give the Boatmen a comfortable lead HT 4-1

Three minutes into the 2nd half a long ball was knocked forward towards Marlon Mason who was offside everyone stopped but Mason made no attempt to play the ball and Luke Bergg took advantage while everybody waited for a flag and he rounded James Barton to complete his third hattrick of the season and take his season tally to tweleve.

Marlon Mason completed the Boatmens rout on sixty minutes scoring Sholing’s sixth of the day. Iain Calder introduced Joel Ghosh for the hard working Jean-Luc Ramdin. Sam Jenman was penalised and cautioned on 70 mins. Jack Newman replaced Harvey Craig four minutes later. Jack Fisher’s corner found the head of Sam Jenman but his header was deflected away for another corner which cleared by Alton. Final change for the Boatmen was Sam Gregory coming on for Harry Butler.  FT 6-1
