Team News: Sholing development side started their home campaign under the watchful eye of 1st team manager Dave Diaper making two changes from last week’s narrow defeat at Liss. Sam Gregory & Owen Royl replaced Harry Butler away on holiday and Harvey Craig dropped to the bench. Manager Iain Calder added Marlon Mason and u18 goalkeeper Aaron Whitmarsh to the squad.

Bosham made the first chance in the game when Josh Helm had to save at the feet of Brad Priest to deny the centre forward. Jelani Abdu received lengthy treatment however he was able to continue. The Sholing midfield were starting to boss the midfield with their free flowing football and TK was injecting plenty of pace along with Owen Royl. Sholing’s high intensity was rewarded on 9 mins with their first Wyvern goal, a ball cut in from the left into a crowded area fell to Luke Bergg but it was Tanka (TK) Madzvamutse who tucked the ball past Connor Mavers. 2 mins later Bosham’s frustration was clear to see when Liam Cooper scythed down Lewis Eades earning the centre back a caution. Luke Bergg was causing problems but was unable to convert his chances. On 18 mins Luke Bergg looked like breaking his goal hoodoo when good work between Kristian Cozzolino, Lewis Eades & Owen Royl set up Luke but his effort hit the inside of the post and bounced clear much to the relief of the Bosham defence. On 28 mins the struggling Jelani Abdu was replaced by Rob Bain. On 34 mins Sholing deservedly increased their lead when Luke Bergg turned provider for Tanka (TK) Madzvamutse to score his 2nd goal of the game. Luke Bergg again set up Lewis Eades but his shot was palmed away by Mavers. Half time came with Sholing leading however if Luke Bergg had converted his half chances the game would have been over. HT 2-0

Bosham made their 2nd change with Steve Soper replacing Frank Austin however the high intensity continued and Sholing finished off a resilient Bosham side inside the opening thirteen minutes of the 2nd half. Sam Jenman scored three minutes in, Iain Calder introduced Marlon Mason for Lewis Eades, TK proved to be the thorn in Bosham side as he turned provider for the next two goals setting up Luke Bergg on 55 mins and 3 mins later putting Marlon Mason in for his first goal for the club.

Sholing continued to press high with Josh Helm in the Sholing goal a virtual spectator. Jack Fisher’s long throw found Luke Bergg who lobbed Connor Mavers but his effort just cleared the keeper’s crossbar. Four minutes later it was Jack Fishers pace to get to the by-line that undone the Bosham defence and he whipped in his cross and found Marlon Mason but his header went just wide. With 25 minutes remaining TK was replaced by Jamie Staples. A minute later Bosham scored in bizarre circumstances having won a corner Sholing failed to clear the kick, the ball was knocked back into the Sholing box and appeared to be going over the bar but it looped over Josh Helm into the net.

With eighteen minutes remaining Sholing made their final change with Sam Jenman cramping up he made way for Harvey Craig. Sholing eventually hit Bosham for six after 74 minutes when Marlon Mason chased a bouncing ball towards keeper Mavers both jumped for it eluding both leaving Mason to tap the ball into an empty net. Bosham replaced Brad Priest with Alfie Sullivan-Bush before play recommenced. Bosham discipline started to escalate with cautions for Charlie Cooper & Mark Desi then with the Bosham assistant flagging for offside this was overlooked by referee Walczak, the assistant throw down the flag and remonstrated but received a caution for his actions. Sholing saw out the game with ease to register their first win in front of a good crowd. FT: 6-1

After the match Steve Ross said it was a great performance from the lads tonight with a high intensity and some free flowing football and plenty of energy running through the squad creating chance after chance.
