The Boatmen will be aiming to get back to winning ways on Saturday as we make the 105 mile trip to face Gloucester City at New Meadow Park.

It’ll be the fourth time already this season that we’ve made the journey up to Gloucestershire, with the Boatmen only suffering defeat in one of those previous three – last weekends reverse against Bishops Cleeve in the FA Trophy. It was a frustrating afternoon for Paul Doswell & Ross White’s men, with Jake McCarthy’s second goal for the club not enough as a late winner from Jack Watts sent the hosts into the Fourth Qualifying round whilst condemning the Boatmen to our third consecutive defeat after a 10 game unbeaten start in all competitions.

Hosts Gloucester did, however, progress in the FA Trophy, albeit by the skin of their teeth with a penalty shootout victory away at Hartpury University. The Tigers are also fairing very well in the league, as they sit second in the Southern Premier South, four points ahead of the Boatmen and two behind leaders Walton & Hersham.

Head-to-head

This’ll be the third time the two sides have met and we will be looking for our first victory over the Tigers, after a 2-1 defeat at New Meadow Park last season was coupled with a 1-1 draw at the Mortgage Decisions Stadium.
