Both teams played brilliant football, scoring some fine team goals, firing in over 30 goals in the group stages. A record was broken with an 11-0 scoreline, with Charlie O registering 7 goals in that game. A brilliant day and an entertaining final

Sunday 13th May - Sholing 2-1 BTC - Tyro Challenge Cup Final

We rounded off our season with a brilliant performance to win the Tyro Challenge Cup. A change of system for us, to make sure the width of the pitch was used to it’s full potential, paid dividends as we played well from the 1st minute. Only superb goalkeeping from the BTC goalkeeper, Connor,  kept his side in the game, making superb stops from Alfie Jordan Louie and Charlie. Alfie and Jordan were also denied by the bar.  However, brilliant goals from Charlie and Alfie gave us a deserved 2-0 lead at half time.  Despite BTC scoring with the last kick of the game, we lifted the Cup, fully deserved after playing superb football.

Tyro league /AFC Totton awarded the man of the match award in the final to Sholing's Jamie Cassell

Sholing produced a great performance and another clean sheet with a team performance against Littleton to reach the Tyro Cup Final. A solid team performance in which Sholing produced some good football in patches. Maybe not as clinical as we should have been, but a couple of beauties from Charlie 'O sealed the victory. We've once again put ourselves through to a cup final double with the Hampshire and Tyro finals to come. 11 February - Hampshire Cup Semi Final - Sholing 3-2 North Warnborough

Sholing young guns made it to our 4th Successive Hampshire Cup Final with a brilliant entertaining game against a strong North Warnborough team who we had met in the Summer in the Final of the Champions Cup. The Wellington pitch was in fantastic condition considering the amount of rain we have recently had. Both teams made strong starts but it was North Warnborough who made the first breakthrough a long ball over the top of defence and the striker ran onto the ball to give them the lead. Sholing created a couple of half chances and were looking dangerous from corners. A great equaliser from Sholing with the goal coming From Henry playing from the back and the team made 8 passes the final pass put Alfie through who took his chance well. A lapse in concentration from Sholing gifted the visitors there 2nd goal with them catching us on the break and to go in at half time behind 1-2.

A few minor changes of systems at Half Time and the boys came out firing playing some great football and the defence tactic at half time seemed to work with Sholing restricting the visitors to minimal efforts on our goal. A great goal to bring us level when a peach of a through ball put Alfie through who finished across the goalie to give him no chance. With 15 minutes to go the game was up for grabs Sholing hit the bar and post and were looking the most likely scorers. With 5 minutes to go our corners that we had not taken advantage of all day Jamie delivered another beaut of a cross that Louie powered in to give us the lead. At 3-2 and very little time left the visitors attacked but we got the possession back a 4 on two break resulted in Sholing scoring but it was ruled offside

The final whistle went soon after to send Sholing into our 4th Hampshire Final!

14 September AFC Bournemouth U16's 7-2 Sholing U15's

Sholing young guns produced a fantastic display against AFC Bournemouth Under 16 Academy. Holding them to 2-2 until the last 15 minutes of the game, when Sholing boys run out of steam. Bournemouth with a squad of 22 players meaning they were fresher towards the end of the game. They also had full international schoolboys playing for them, as well as training almost full time. Cherries had some fantastic players and as you would expect from an academy side their ball possession, movement & awareness was very good meaning we had to work hard to get the ball back. However we played some terrific stuff with Jordan and Alfie scoring two great goals. From Henry all the way up the pitch, the boys were fantastic and a credit to the club. To hold the team to 2-2 till the last 15 minutes was a fantastic effort, especially as most of their team were a year older than us. In fact, we produced a better result than some professional teams Bournemouth have played recently.

10 September - Colden Common Rovers 2-10 Sholing

We continued our excellent pre-season form with a great display against a good Colden Common side. Although the result was emphatic, the game was closer than the scoreline suggests. Great saves from Henry, saving 4 one-on-ones, kept the home side at bay. He had a superb game. We continued to play high tempo football and this season that element of the game is what we are trying to develop, so the players are ready for the next step up, hopefully into the professional or semi-professional game in the near future.

A return from injury for our summer signing, Charlie Henty, who was up against his old team, with two great goals and looking sharp as he returns to match fitness. 5 goals from Alfie, 1 goal from Bailey and Louie and another header from Alex, meant we have kept up our pre season of free flowing football. Mark Costello has Colden Common playing the right way with his ethos of passing out from the back in evidence and they should be congratulated for that.

We travel to AFC Bournemouth Academy on Thursday to play their Under 16s who are probably the leading team in the area. A tough task playing a Premier League's Academy U16s, but we will give it a good go!

5 September - Paulsgrove 2-7 Sholing

A really tough pre season friendly as we went down to play Paulsgrove. A good match between two committed sides, although we started poorly, being 2-0 down after 15 minutes.  After we got a foothold into the game, we pushed the home team back, scoring before half time with a cracking strike from Jordan. HT 2-1

A good team talk and a change of system at half time and we played some sparkling champagne Football to quickly go 2-4 ahead with a rocket shot from Jamie, a penalty from Bailey and a cool finish from Jordan. We continued to play our attacking brand of football and further goals from Jamie, Louie and a deserved goal from Charlie O, who had worked so hard, gave us the win against a very good Paulsgrove side. FT 2-7

We head to Colden Common on Sunday and AFC Bournemouth Academy on Thursday,  before our league campaign gets underway.

30 August - Sholing U15's 5-1 AFC Totton U16'sU15NewKit

Sholing U15's produced a fantastic display under the floodlights at the Universal Stadium to beat AFC Totton's U16's. In attendance at the game were Dave Diaper, Sholing 1st team manager as well as Dan Miller, our coach and also head of AFC Bournemouth Academy, Carl Robson. After having Bournemouth, Saints, Portsmouth and Swindon in attendance in our last three games, the lads are producing some great permformances under the watchful eye of professional club academies. As a result of the game, we have been invited to play AFC Bournemouth Academy in two weeks time.

Wearing our new Kappa kit for the first time, our attacking brand of football was excellent and we played in three different formations throughout the game. Quick in passing, great transition play, strong and really were a credit to the club. A fine hat trick from Alfie, great solo goal from Jordan and a fine bullet header from Alex gave us a fantastic win against a team from an older age group. We head to Basingstoke Town for our next game on Saturday.

27 August - Brockenhurst 2-9 Sholing

Our 2nd pre-season game produced a fantastic display and result at Grigg Lane. The football played by Sholing was of the highest quality with some outstanding team passing, ball retention, work rate and superb goals in evidence. Brockenhurst youth have an outstanding team, having won the Bournemouth league and cup last season as well as making the Hampshire cup Semi finals. Brockenhurst passing game was evident and they produced some good passing and movement in spells today. Sholing goals and team ethics were evident to see and the goalkeeper and back three look assured playing out from the back. The wingers playing as attacking wing backs were excellent. Central three midfielders were in control and the front two setting the tone of the team with tireless running.

Goals came from Alfie 3, Charlie O 2, Jordan 2, and headers from Ben and Jospeh C, capped off an incredible display with the team being clapped off from both sets supporters

20 August - Pickwick lions 2-4 Sholing

A fantastic pre-season game where the Hampshire Cup finalists teams played out a cracking friendly with great football played by both. All that is good in youth football was there to be seen with the Portsmouth Scout in attendance commenting on how good the game was and the way both teams playing great football. With Jordan, Josh and Matty away on holidays, the squad of 16 this season was tested as we lost Jamie, Joe C and Charlie H to injury in a high tempo game. Sholing started brightly, scoring within a minute with a terrific team goal, Louie finishing off the move. Pickwick then scored 2 good goals to give them the lead, but Sholing dug in and responded in great fashion with a quick fire hat trick from Alfie. A great game played in the right spirit.
Debuts for Henry, Alex, Charlie O and Charlie H, were fantastic and slotted straight into the team, showing great quality.

1 July - Players of the Season Awards

Managers Player of The Year : Ben Adams.  Ben has had an outstanding first season. Very quick strong defender that has fitted very well into the Sholing back line.

Players Players of The Year : Jamie Cassell & Owen Buckle.

Voted by the players, we had a joint player of the year both players had the same number of votes so the award was shared between them. Jamie Cassell, an outstanding season and has been very influential this season in Central Midfield. Strong tackler and fantastic engine. He has added a great passing range to his game and has scored some superb free kicks this season. Owen Buckle, an outstanding season for this exceptional attacking wing back, who is also comfortable at centre back. Scored some crucial goals this season and always links up defence and midfield well. Scorer of the best six a side goal I've ever seen.
