18 June - Colden Common Tournament

U14Colden

After last week's tournament victory at Pace where both teams reached the final, this tournament at Colden Common was the last before a well deserved 6 weeks off during the summer.

Sholing Red were taken by the Dan Miller & Andy and were placed in a group Of Oakwood, BTC Colden Common and Chamberlayne. Sholing White were in the other group placed with BTC, Colden Common x 2 & Chamberlayne

With only the group winners going through, Sholing Red started with a well earned 0-0 draw against a tough Oakwood side. Next up were Chamberlayne, who we beat 2-0. A 1-0 win over Coldon Common meant we had to win 3-0 in the last league game against BTC to stop Oakwood from getting to the final. The game was close, but with us going all out attack, we left ourselves open and lost the game 1-0.  Oakwood topped the group, with Sholing Red's 2nd. Dan and Andy were happy the team played so well, conceding just 1 goal, so it was hard on the lads not to progress further.

Sholing White got off to a good start, winning their first game 1-0 with a strike from Charlie against Colden Common (his former team). Next up were a dogged Chamberlayne side, with Sholing running out 1-0 winners with Jordan again scoring.  Third game was against BTC and despite having four good chances, we were unable to score with the game ending in a stalemate.  We needed to win the final game against hosts, Colden Common to go through and put in a brilliant performance to win 3-0. First goal from Charlie H was a thunderbolt, 2nd from JV a cool finish, the third goal may well have been the best team goal I have seen in tournament football at this level. All players (including the goalkeeper) passing the ball from back to front with 22 passes & JV finishing it off. Spectators gave the team a deserved round of applause. We qualified for the final without conceding a goal.

Whites played Oakwood JPL in the final and after a close first 5 minutes we scored two brilliant goals inside two minutes.  Jordan scoring a half-volley thunderbolt that flew in and then a break-away goal, with Alex linking up with Jamie and Jordan before Jamie slotted home to make the final score 2-0. The team were brilliant all day and did not concede and deservedly won the tournament. From defence to attack they were superb.

Great end to a season where we were league winners for the fourth successive season remaining unbeaten, Hampshire Cup finalists, Champions Cup Winners and won a further two summer tournaments.

Tournament record summer 2017 :
Basingstoke :  Winners
Salisbury :  Runners Up
Bishops Waltham : Semi Finals (lost on pens)
Pace : Winners
Coldon Common : Winners

11 June - Pace 6-a-side Tournament

Sholing U14's sent two teams (Blue & Red) to the Pace six a side tournament and ended up facing each other in the final! The tournament format suited us playing on bigger pitches in 9 a side goals with 15 minutes per game.

Group 1 was won by Sholing Red : Sholing Red 3-0 Winchester City, Sholing Red 4-0 Romsey, Sholing 5-0 Pace.

Group 2 was won by Sholing Blue : Sholing 1-0 Littleton, Sholing 3-0 Sarisbury Black, Sholing 5-0 Marchwood.

Having won both of their groups, our teams avoided each other in the Semi-Finals.

Sholing Red were up first playing fellow Tyro Division 1 side Sarisbury Black. Red's were total dominant and played some outstanding football and brilliant goals and ran out 4-0 winners. Sholing Blue were up next playing Pace and again, football of the highest standard, running out 5-0 winners

Meant an all Sholing final with the Blue's running out 3-0 winners against the Reds

A great tournament for both and thanks to Pace FC for running it so well.

6 June - We are delighted to announce the following new signings for the U15 season ahead :

Henry Abraham, Goalkeeper, joins us from Portsmouth FC - Henry has been an academy goalkeeper at Portsmouth and AFC Bournemouth for the past 6 seasons. A fantastic signing for us, that will give us a formidable goalkeeper for season ahead.

Alex Beckett, Defender, joins From BTC Southampton - Alex is a classy outstanding defender that joins from local team BTC. Alex has represented Southampton and Hampshire Schoolboys and will add quality to our already outstanding defence.

Charlie Henty, Winger/Forward, joins from Colden Common - Charlie has always caused us problems when we have played against him, very powerful and quick, Charlie can either play as a Winger or Forward, superb eye for goal.

Charlie Oneyekwere, Forward, joins from St Francis - Charlie is known to the team and will add strength to the forward line as strong as an ox and non stop running will provide balance to our forward line.

We welcome all four players to Sholing FC

7 May

We were invited to play in the Under 14's Champions Cup at Basingstoke FC's Camrose Ground. Teams from Basingstoke, Farnborough, Swindon and London competed in a round robin 11 a side tournament, with matches being 20 minutes long. Sholing took three new players to the tournament, two forwards and a goalkeeper.  They all fitted in superbly well and had fantastic debuts.

First up, Sholing went up against a team from Farnborough and played some great football and managed to win the game 1-0 with a great goal from Alfie. Second game we face Whetstone from London, a tough game against a good side, resulted in a 0-0 draw to keep us unbeaten in the first two games. Third game pitted us against Swindon and we played some superb football to win 3-0 with goals from Josh and Jordan x 2.

In our final group game we played the hosts, Basingstoke Town, and we put in an outstanding dispaly of quick tempo attacking football and ran out 4-0 winners. Goals from Louie x 2, Jamie and Jordan.

We went into the final to play for the Cup and were pitted against the Farnborough team that were runners up. Again, a solid outstanding team performance gave us a deserved 2-0 victory.  Overall, in the tournament, we scored 10 and didn't concede a single goal.  Well done to the lads and many thanks to the tournament hosts & organisers.

9 April - Sholing 2-0 Winchester Black - Tyro Divison 1 - Sholing win their 4th Tyro Division 1 Title.

In a game where Sholing needed a draw and Winchester the win, the game held huge significance for both teams, Sholing trying to win their 4th consecutive Tyro Division 1 Title, Winchester trying to break that monopoly and win their 1st. Sholing played on the front foot from start to finish with some fantastic football. We kept to our beliefs and played an excellent passing game. Connor and the defence stood firm and restricted Winchester to just two chances from open play. We had some great chances with Alfie forcing the goalkeeper to make a great save, OB with a chance that just missed the top corner and a fantastic run from Jamie where he mazed through 5 defenders but blasted the ball wide.  HT 0-0

Second half and Sholing were determined not to just play for the draw they needed to clinch the league, but wanted to finish the season in style and produce the double over Winchester in the league. We continued to play some great stuff and threatened to score first. The first goal was a beauty, with Alfie picking the ball up and running through two Winchester defenders and finish with a great powerful strike to put us in front. The game opened up with Winchester then having to come forward. The next goal would be crucial, which Sholing got from a brilliant run from centre of midfield from Jamie who went past four Winchester players before the goalie took him down the Ref was about to blow for a penalty when it fell to Alfie who walked the ball in to double our advantage.

We continued to play our passing game, Winchester hit the bar which Connor managed to tip onto the bar. Connor and the defence stood firm. The final action was a funny moment Jamie hit a fantastic 30 yard free kick that crashed against the post/crossbar and Andy said the comment of the season and said to Jamie : "sometimes it looks better not to score when it hits the bar/post as it looks better for the cameras then go in”  Classic!

The final score ended 2-0 to Sholing which meant we had remained unbeaten in the league with 13 wins & 1 draw to become Champions again!

The record this team hold is truly amazing. In the four seasons since we joined the Tyro League we have won 4 championships in a row with the staggering league record of Played 57, Won 55, Drawn 1, Lost 1.

CHAMPIONS

2 April - BTC 1-1 Sholing - Tyro Division 1

A tricky game ended in Sholing maintaining their unbeaten league campaign against a strong  BTC side. Sholing were down to the bear bones with Jordan and Joseph missing through injury, couple players ill but had to play due to injuries to others. Sholing tried to play their attacking football, but BTC are a tough nut to crack and do not give sides much time to settle. We went ahead when Josh was alert to slot the ball home to edge in half time 1 up.

The second half was very similar to the first half, Sholing played some delightful football and could have had one of the goals of the season when we made over 12 passes to send Jamie clear, but a superb last ditch tackle from a defender denied him. We had dealt with most of the corners that BTC had thrown at us, but with the last kick of the game, BTC scored from a corner to grab the equaliser.  FT 1-1 Meaning 13 victories and 1 draw in the league to date

12 February - Sholing 7-1 Oakwood Terriers - Hampshire Cup Semi Final

Sholing produced an outstanding and clinical display of attacking football to make it a hat-trick of Hampshire Cup final appearances. We are now looking to set a new record in Hants Youth Football by making it three wins in succession. An incredible achievement that this team have yet to ever lose a Hampshire Cup tie.

A tough game awaits as Pickwick have an outstanding record in this competition having been finalists and semi finalists in the past two seasons. We had a fantastic final 2 seasons ago against them and look forward to the final On Sunday 19th March at Hampshire FA HQ at Basingstoke.

Goals from Jordan x 3, Louie 2, Alfie and Josh secured the Semi Final win. Excellent all round display from the goalkeeper through to the forwards

29 January - Sholing 2-1 Pickwick Tigers - Hampshire Cup Quarter Final

A clash of heavyweights in the Quarter final of the Hampshire Youth Cup saw the unbeaten league leaders of the Southampton Tyro league play the already crowned winners of the Portsmouth equivalent.

Sholing started the game brightly and within 5 minutes might have had a penalty when Jordan was clean through and was taken out, but the foul was given outside the box with the resulting freekick saved by the goalie.

Pickwick took the lead when a free kick was headed in.  The game continued to be a tough physical encounter, but the boys stood firm and tried to play their football. Towards the end of the first half, Sholing got the equaliser when Jordan was fouled outside the box and Alfie scored to send us in level.  HT 1-1

In the second half, Sholing played down the flanks and utilised their passing game and were unlucky not to take the lead when a goal was disallowed for a very close offside call. Again Sholing rolled up there sleeves to try and win the match in normal time with the goalie from Pickwick making a couple of outstanding saves to keep it level.

But, with just 10 minutes left, Callum hit a brilliant goal with an arrowed effort over the goalkeeper's head to give us a deserved lead. Sholing defended superblyand the back 5 of Connor, Owen, Matty, Ben and Joseph saw the game out to give us a fantastic victory! FT 2-1

We have now won 20 consecutive games in The Hampshire Cup, winning it back to back and are going for the trophy for the third season running.  Along with consecutive league titles, with 100% records, this special team's achievements may not be matched or beaten for some considerable time.

18 December - Sholing 3-2 Colden Common

13 December - As we head into the Christmas break, Sholing U14s continue to set high standards in local youth football. Having won the treble last season and double the season before, they head into the new year in great shape and in a good position to repeat both league & Hampshire Cup success.

We currently sit at the top of the league with 10 out of 10 league wins, but have tough league games coming up against BTC and Winchester and we need to stay focused to win our 4th league title in a row.  Hard to put into words how good this group of players are, but lost just one league game in four seasons the record speaks for itself.

The Hampshire Cup Quarter finals, we have drawn a very strong Pickwick side who will be a tough game for us, but the team will will take there record of never having lost a Hampshire Cup match. They are determined to stay focused and try to achieve great things again this season.

To all the Sholing staff, committee and sides have a great Christmas!

18 Sep - Sholing 5-4 Sarisbury

A rollercoaster game, where for the first time ever, Sholing conceded more than 2 goals in a match. Sarisbury were fantastic and scored some excellent goals. The game kicked off with both teams having good possession, Sarisbury took the lead with a goal that was soft and should have been cleared. After a couple of good saves from Sarisbury goalie Sholing equalised with a brilliant freekick from Jamie, who curled a free kick into the top corner. HT 1-1

Sholing rung the changes at half time and immediately went in front with a great right footed curler from Matty. Again Sarisbury came back with a great goal. Sholing then seemed to have put the game to bed with Alfie scoring two goals within 5 minutes a couple of long range beauties.  However, Sarisbury dug deep and scored two outstanding goals that were top drawer to level up at 4-4

Sholing then made sure the result went there way with a goal from Alfie to complete his hat trick and give us the win. Making it three wins from three games Sarisbury were a credit to their club, and Kevin their manager, should feel mighty proud how they played. They pushed us to the max.  FT 5-4

11 Sep - Winchester Black 1-5 Sholing

A great team performance from this outstanding dedicated young team gave us a perfect start over the side that has been our closest challengers since we started out at Under 7s.

Sholing were back to full strength with the returning Jamie and Alfie back from suspension, Matty returning from holiday and a debut in goal for Adam Lewingray. with both teams having strengthened their squads a great game lay in wait. Sholing started brightly and within 2 minutes were a goal up a brilliant flick from Alfie set jordan through who as usual slotted the ball home to give us a deserved lead. Both teams settled into the game, but it was Sholing who struck next
when a free flowing move resulted in a brilliant through ball by louie to the advancing josh who buried the shot to give us a 2.0 lead. Before half time Winchester scored with a clever finish.  HT 1-2

Winchester came out the stronger in the second half and were the better team for 10 minutes, however they didn't create any chances in this period due to the brilliant sholing defence of Adam, OB, Thomas, Matty, Joseph c and Ben playing in his first sholing winchester game was quite magnificent.  Sholing then broke on the counter and were awarded a penalty, which Alfie, against his old team, smashed past the goalie to give us a 3.1 cushion. At that point sholing rose and winchester were left a little deflated. We scored a fantastic fourth when Alfie went past three winchester defenders before curling a beauty into the top corner. The fifth and final goal was a great corner in from Jamie and Jordan hitting the sweet spot to round off a great victory. FT 1-5

An outstanding team performance

4 Sep - Sholing 5-1 Oakwood Terriers

The current treble winners started their season with a brilliant display. There is always an air of excitement and also a worry when you play your first game back of the new season. With the goalie unavailable, 2 players suspended and 2 players away, Sholing started with just 11 players. But the team were brilliant from start to finish.

Sholing raced out of the blocks with a cool finish from Jordan to give us a deserved lead after 5 minutes. We doubled our advantage with a rocket from Jordan to put us 2 up at half time. The second half started as the first half ended with a dominant performance and scored a great third goal with a header from Joseph v. Oakwood goalie made three outstanding saves from bailey, josh and joseph, before a slick move resulted in an accurate finish from Jordan, to round off his hat trick. A brilliant strike from Oakwood gave them a deserved goal to make the scoreline 4.1. With 5 minutes remaining Joseph v, rounded off a great move with a terrific left foot goal to give us a wnning start. FT 5-1

A brilliant display with great debuts from Ben and Aarron.
