Fixtures & Results : Southampton & District Tyro League Division 1

6 May - Sholing 3-0 Salisbury - Tyro Challenge Cup Final

17 Dec - Sholing 3-0 Hedge End Rangers - Hampshire Cup 4th Round

Top of the league Hedge End travelled the long journey along the M27 to Wellington Sports Ground, Eastleigh, for what proved to be an excellent example of the high level of players currently competing in the top league of Southampton Tyro Div 1.

And from the first whistle this was going to be a fixture not to be missed. Sholing coming off three recent clean sheets started the game on the front foot hitting the crossbar and regularly testing the Hedge End keeper on every attack. But it was Hedge End who were first to get the ball in the back of the net, only for the goal to be rightly ruled offside.

This proved to be the wake up call the Sholing attack needed, who promptly proceeded down the opposite end with Adam Irving scoring to finish the half 1-0 to Sholing.

Second half brought about five substitutions for Sholing continuing our confidence in the abilities of the whole squad. This proved to be an excellent decision keeping the level of football high and pinning Hedge End back in their own half for long periods and limiting them to few shots from distance but rarely testing Ben Daglish in goal.

And on the 50th minute Isaac Evans made it 2-0 to Sholing with an excellent headed goal, with Luke Graham swiftly adding to this on the 63rd minute to cap off an excellent performance by the whole team. FT 3-0

Man of the Match was awarded to the whole team for their excellent attitudes in training , proving if you put in the hard work results will follow. Next up an away trip to Bournemouth Electric in the quarter finals.

3 Dec - Sholing 6-0 Botley

Goal scorers: Adam Irving 3, Dan Gregory 1, Kia Newland 1, Lewis Evans 1. Man of the match : Jack Miles

Back to league action ! The boys were really excited to get back into league today against a strong Botley Lions side , that have proved in previous seasons to be a real thorn in our side. But from the first whistle Sholing dominated the game with smart slick passing and great player movement both with and without the ball. All three first half goals came from outstanding team play , which has showed that the hard work put in during training is starting to really pay dividends. HT 3-0

The Second half started with more of the same and with the introduction of fresh legs meant the high levels of performance set in the first half continued. The boys didn’t give the Botley defence rest bite comfortably wrapping up the game with a further three goals. FT 6-0

19 Nov - Sholing 11-0 Marchwood - Hampshire Cup

Goal scorers: Adam Irving 4, Finn Curtis 1, Lewis Evans 4, Finley Lintott-Warrillow 1, Reece Kempton 1.  Man of the match : Adam Irving

In a big week of change, the team bid a fond farewell to Paul Warrillow. Unfortunately, Paul has stepped down as Manager after seven happy and successful years. With League Cup and Hampshire Cup honours to name but a few, we wish him all the best for the future and look forward to seeing him on the sidelines soon cheering the boys on.

With the change of the coaching team comes new ideas and new formations and today’s game was used to implement some of these. The boys quickly adapted to the new formation and with a “tip of the hat” to Paul’s belief of all the boys being capable in all positions, were able to make the transition smoothly, cruising through the first half. HT 4-0

The second half produced more of the same with the introduction of three fresh players. Their attitude was exceptional, sustaining the high standards set in the first half, further enhancing Sholing’s dominance. FT 11-0

The boys progress to the next round and dedicated this result to Paul.

Nov 5 - Salisbury Youth White 2-1 Sholing

Goal scorer : Luke Graham
Disappointing display today and was all about the first half where good chances were created, but not converted. We need to more clinical and put teams away as on the whole the team defended well today. Going to be an uphill struggle to compete for the league now but never say never. Man of the match went to Isaac Evans who started in a front two but was then asked to drop into firm up the defence and stuck to his task well.

Oct 29 - Sholing 3-0 Romsey Cougars

Goal scorers: Luke Graham, Adam Irving & Isaac Evans

Another clean sheet and good all round performance from the lads. 1-0 at half time after a well worked goal from Luke Graham who was put through by Dan Gregory. Second half we switched from a lone striker to two forwards as Romsey started to tire. Lewis Evans who played really well on the left side of midfield created the second goal for Adam Irving who got in ahead of the Romsey keeper. Isaac Evans finished things off with a strong strike on the turn making it 3-0.  Man of the Match went to Kai Newland who was awesome today throughout. Demonstrating some great centre half play and getting forward on several occasions carrying the ball really well turning defence into attack.

15 Oct - Sholing 4-0 Rodaway Rovers - Hampshire Cup 2nd Round

Goal Scorers: Kai Newland, Adam Irving, Lewis Evans, Isaac Evans. 2nd round of the Hampshire cup saw us playing top of Tyro Div 2 with many familiar faces including two of our past players. 3-0 at half time which possibly should have been more. The second period was a bit flat to say the least and only 1 goal was added to the tally. Man of the Match went to newcomer, Spencer Hardie, for some solid and consistent play snuffing out the Rovers attempts to create openings.

8 Oct - Oakwood Lions 2-3 Sholing

Goal scorers: Lewis Evans 1, Adam Irving 2. A battling team performance today. Going in 2-0 down at half time, but finishing the half strong the boys just needed more belief. An early opener from Lewis Evans who was cutely played through by Isaac Evans worked out to be a game changing moment. Adam Irving also came off the bench and made his impact with two goals that gave the boys the edge. Luke Graham gave a man of the match performance with two spells on the pitch and proving a real handful throughout.

1 Oct - Sholing 2-4 Hedge End

Goal scorers: Luke Graham & Adam Irving. Man of the match: Ben Daglish in goal. Ben made some incredible stops today that made him a worthy man of the match.  A lot of positives in today's team performance just need to stay switched on to cut out some easy to rectify problems. Created plenty of chances and should have converted more of them.

24 Sep - FC Salisbury United 1-4 Sholing

Goal scorers: Isaac Evans, Luke Graham, Adam Irving & Lex Vaughan - A good first half performance ending 3-1 which did not reflect our dominance. The second half saw a well organised FC Salisbury team stifle our chances until late on when the lads grabbed a 4th through a lovely top corner effort from Lex Vaughan. Man of the match was Daniel Gregory for a commanding game in centre of the park. Daniel kept a cool head throughout and rarely gave possession away.

17 Sep - Sholing 14-0 Pace Pumas - Tyro Cup 1st Round

Lex Vaughan - Hatrick, Finn Curtis - 2, Jack Miles - 2, Finley Lintott-Warrillow 1, Isaac Evans - 1, Luke Graham - 1, Logan Dimond - 1, Adam Irving - 1, Lewis Evans - 1, 1 own goal

Much better performance than last week. Kept our focus and played some really creative football today. Man of the Match went to Jack Miles who played right back then pushed on into right mid. Scoring twice and playing some good passing into wide areas and supporting forward play.

10 Sep - Sholing 11-5 Moneyfields - Hampshire Cup 1st Round

Goals by Isaac Evans 3, Luke Graham 2, Lex Vaughan 2, Lewis Evans 1, Finn Curtis 1, Adam Irving 1, Finley Lintott Warrillow 1. Man of the match : Isaac Evans

15 Aug - Sholing U14 finished in 3rd place in the inaugural Southampton Cup and won the Fair Play award. Playing against teams with many players who were almost a year older due to the international rule, Sholing equipped themselves well. We topped our group and narrowly lost to Salisbury Youth 3-2 after being 2-0 ahead at the break. Winning a penalty shoot out to take 3rd place topped off a great week for the lads playing in our first event of this kind. All games were 11-aside, but played on age appropriate academy size pitches and goals. U14SotonCup
