The Development side got back to back wins with another hatful of goals making their tally twelve, but again conceded a couple of sloppy goals.

Team News: Harry Butler, Duncan Brown & Rory Wood returned from run out in the first team on Tuesday night. Jean-Luc Ramdin replaced Jack Attrill who has ripped his toe nail off. Connor Pearson had to watch from the side-lines with an injury he picked up at Aldershot.

Sholing got off to best start possible when Jack Fisher’s cross was headed past Jamie Linnington into the Newport goal in the fifth minute to take the lead with an O.G. Sholing were in the ascendancy and doubled their lead ten minutes later when leading goalscorer RORY WOOD scored. Seven minutes later RORY WOOD found the net again, taking his tally to a dozen in fourteen appearances.

Sholing were dominating the game and were coping with the swirling wind. Newport were really struggling and it was compounded when one of the midfielders parted company with his lunch and was substituted. More misery was heaped on the Islanders when MO ASLAMI beat Jamie Linnington in the Newport goal. Just before half time a mix up between Jamie Blackburn and Josh Helm allowed Newport to pull a goal back on thirty eight minutes. HT: 4-1

At the start of the second half Sholing had to make an immediate change bringing on Harry Butler for Liam Attrill who had picked up a knock. Sixty seconds later JEAN-LUC RAMDIN tucked away Sholing’s fifth goal. The goal generated a bit of compliancy and a few passes were starting to go astray. Duncan Brown took a knock and after treatment had to leave the field but returned immediately. The Newport centre back received a yellow card from referee Ridge for his challenge on fifty five minutes.

On the hour Ryan Farrant was the second sub being replaced by Callum Waughman. Then three minutes later TK Madzvamutse replaced Jamie Staples. Four minutes later Sholing went one better than last week when KASPER KLAUSEN hit Sholing’s sixth goal of the day and his third in only his second match. JAMIE BLACKBURN redeemed his earlier error and put Sholing in Seven Heaven with eighteen minutes remaining. But with the clock ticking down Sholing once again switched off and Newport hit a second goal. FT: 7-2

Next week Sholing make the short trip to near neighbours Hamble Club who had their match postponed today. With Sholing moving up to fourth, one point behind The Monks, but having played two games more. The week's rest will be key to get the players out injured back fit for next week’s clash.
