Then on six minutes Sholing had their first chance however Jamie Blackburn miskicked the ball however it fell to Centre Forward Ryan Wood but he hit his shot wide.

Sholing continued to press for an equaliser and won a series of corners Ryan Wood and Jamie Blackburn both had chances but could capitalise on the pressure applied.

Report by Greg Dickson

Steve Blackburn reflected on his first League game in charge of the Boatmen “We missed our chances in the first half we had four good chances and needed to put one of them away. However we went in 1-0 down to a good strike that was really their only shot of the half to be fair. Fareham kept the ball well but didn’t really get in behind us. In the second half more the same really we pressed them higher and got wider and created the more chances but their finishing was better. So with one game out of the way we have some boys away, some unfit and a few with the first team it is what it is”
