Boatmen set themselves up for the league season starting next weekend with a win at near neighbours, Folland Sports.  Sholing got all their goals in a lively first half, Dan Mason finding the net and Lee Wort grabbing a brace.

With the game only arranged this week after Folland's original opponents dropped out, Sholing were missing, Gosney, TJ, Miller, Castle, Bulpitt, Smith, Brewy & Royl. Also away was manager, Dave Diaper, who was squeezing in a holiday before the main season started. Iain Calder took charge of the team, which included several Development squad players, with Josh Helm & Bradley Targett playing their second game in 24 hours.

Sholing started on the front foot, with Marv, Jake & Billy all getting in behind the Folland's defence several times, but the final ball was just lacking.  Boatmen took the lead on 18 minutes with DAN MASON adding another beauty to his collection of spectacular goals.  A long ball from Frazer McLean was nodded up & on by D-Dan and he was quicker to react than the defenders to the dropping ball and as it sat up from the bounce, the striker smashed it in from 20 yards, giving the keeper no chance.

Lead was doubled on 29 mins with Jake Hoole running at the defence in the left channel before standing up a cross to the far post where LEE WORT volleyed it in past the keeper from close range.   LEE WORT also hit the upright before scoring his second on 42 mins, collecting a crossfield pass, checking in past a defender and drilling a low shot from 22 yards that snuck inside the post.  Scoreline reflected Sholing's dominance in the first half, with several other chances created, but spurned.  HT 0-3

Sholing had a couple of chances to extend their lead after the restart, with Lee Wort going clean through, but he couldn't beat the keeper to claim a hat-trick.  He then broke down the right, but delayed his cross to the waiting teammates and the ball was cleared.   The Boatmen started making some changes and the tempo & intensity dropped quite a bit and Follands reacted better to their subs and started causing problems for the Sholing defence.  On 60 mins, ex-Sholing player, Taurean Manders got a goal back for the home side, finishing well from the edge of the area after a good build up.  He would then go onto hit the woodwork and Sholing had to scramble away a couple of other attacks that got in behind the defence.

Wasn't much happening up the other end, although Billy Connor was clattered into in the area, but the Ref decided against giving a penalty.  There were some well struck shots late in the game by JP Alexander and Ryan Mackney that went close as the game petered out.  FT 1-3
