22 May - Tyro Division 1 Play Off - Sholing Youth 3 Winchester Youth 2

After a long season, we completed a historic treble by securing The league title to go alongside The Hampshire Cup and Tyro Challenge Cup. All season, opposition teams have been saying that they are going to overtake us. The boys, to there credit, have just dug in and produced the results on the pitch where it matters.

This was a one game shootout to decide the league title. A fifth fixture against Winchester this season, with them winning one and us winning the other three.

Within 5 minutes we took a deserved lead with Lewis crossing for Jordan and he put a thunderbolt header in off the bar to give us a deserved lead. Sholing nearly made it 2 when Bailey hit a free kick from 30 yards that crashed off the bar. Everyone in the team were giving their all with Connor and the defence standing firm against the dangerous Winchester attack. However, Winchester scored an equaliser with a really good goal to set the game up nicely at half time. HT 1-1

Sholing restarted on the offensive and again only a brilliant save from the Winchester goalie from a Bailey free kick prevented us from taking the lead. The game really was outstanding and considering what was at stake great football was played by both. With 20 minutes left Bailey got the ball from 30 yards out and hit the goal of the season with a bullet that hit the top corner and was rising as soon as it hit the top of the net. Jordan then scored a brilliant third goal when he took the Winchester defence apart on his own and fired us further ahead.  We then put on our defensive hats on to take us into the last 5 minutes, Winchester threw everyone forward and scored with 3 minutes left. But we held out and captured our third consecutive Tyro league championship. FT 3-2

This team have an outstanding record since they were formed; 5 out 6 league titles three consecutive league titles; Back to Back Hampshire Cups and Southampton Tyro cups. A remarkable treble for this brilliant young team. Next season will be even harder, but we look forward to the challenge of teams trying to displace us at the top of the tree.

15 May - Hampshire Cup Final - Newport IW 0-3 Sholing

Sholing Under 13's won the presitigous Hampshire Cup Final for the second season running. We have yet to lose a Hampshire Cup Game ever and in that statement itself underlines how brilliant this team is.

The team arrived by coach courtesy of Sholing Youth FC and were in good mood ahead of the game. The game was expected to be a tight affair, as Newport had knocked out Pickwick, Hurstwood, Brockenhurst and Hiltingbury along the way to the final. They had also won their domestic league and cup without losing a game this season and had scored goals for fun along the way.

Sholing were out of the blocks very quickly and having played in last season final settled more quickly and after 4 minutes were ahead from Jordan. We played some great football on a very difficult pitch and kept Newport chances to a minimum with the excellent defence and Connor. We doubled our lead when Bailey made it 2-0 before half time.

We knew Newport would come out all guns blazing in the second half and they started very well playing some expansive football and were very good for 10 minutes. Sholing withstood this and scored a fantastic goal on the break with Jordan hitting a thunderbolt to give us a 3-0 lead.

Everyone that knows Sholing and how difficult we are to breakdown having never conceded a goal in previous finals we have played in. We had a few more chances to score and played some sublime football and ran out 3.0 winners to give us back-to-back wins. Newport were excellent in their play, great coaches and managers and can hold their heads high after playing some good football and have had a great season.

A big thankyou to Sholing FC, Carly Kinsey Youth chairperson and the fantastic parents we have for continued support. A massive shout for Andy who continues to coach this team and makes them the great team they are. A brilliant season so far for this truly fantastic team winning the Southampton and Hampshire Cup.

Our last game is a Play off against Winchester for the league title this will decide if we do the double or an historic treble (last season we won the league and Hampshire cup, we are one game from achieving the treble)

So proud of this team

24 Apr - Sholing 1-0 Oakwood Terriers - Tyro Division 1

A hard fought game in a match that Sholing needed to win to take the league into a play off decider. For most of the team it was their 4th game in 7 days. Tired legs were obvious for the last 10 weeks the squad has been 13 players which means no rest for the players.  An increased squad will be happening next season as we expect to again challenge on three fronts.

The team character and team togetherness is there to be seen and the foundation of this league campaign is their strength. Having conceded just 6 league goals all season, there in lies how difficult we are to beat. Sholing effort has been rewarded, with winning the Southampton Tyro Cup, and we now head into the final two games with a league decider play off against Winchester. And we will try and retain the Hampshire Cup Final against Newport IOW.

If we do win this historic treble then we would have completed the most magnificent season. Even if we don’t, we have put ourselves in this position to have a chance of the treble. Which in itself is truly incredible.

This squad of 13 players are lion hearts. This team have lost one league game in three years and remain the team that sets the standards. Part 1 complete can we complete part 2 and 3 ?

20 Apr - Winchester 1-2 Sholing - Tyro Division 1

Sholing are still on for the treble after a narrow victory against lead leaders Winchester. After the Tyro Cup Final victory on Sunday, Wednesday's league game against Winchester was a tough game. A tense and nervous match was always on the cards with the league title on the line. A tense first half resulted in Winchester taking a narrow lead into half time. HT 1-0

After the break, the next goal would be crucial and good play at both ends resulted in near misses. We then went for the game changing our formation and playing 3 upfront which opened up the space. We got a deserved equaliser when a corner was whipped in by Bailey with Jordan there there to head in, leaving the game finely poised with 10 minutes left.

With 5 minutes left, a brilliant Crossfield ball from the back and Danny Alves Buckle from right back rifled in to give us the lead.  And that’s how the result stayed.  FT 1-2

The team have massive hearts and never know when they are beaten. The treble will be tough to win, but in this last week we have secured the first part. With two league games left and a Hampshire Cup Final to look forward to...Can this team do it ?!?

17 Apr - Sholing 2-0 BTC - Southampton Tyro Challenge Cup Final

A solid performance by Sholing Youth gave us a nard fought Cup victory today. The boys were superb and a credit to Sholing and in a final that was played in the right spirit.

We were without our goalkeeper today and the outfield player and our captain Thomas Southcott who handled everything superbly. Our full backs Matty and Owen, were solid and got forward when they could giving us excellent attacking outlets. The central pairing of Louie and Joseph are really turning into the best central defensive pairing in the league. Wingers Josh and Bailey worked hard supporting the front two supplying superb balls (Congratulations Josh who won man of the match). The midfield trio of Joseph, Jamie and Callum, made vital tackles and set the tempo for the game. The front pairing of Jordan and Lewis gave the well organised back line of BTC problems in throughout game.

The first half was and Sholing made the only real opportunity with Jordan just putting wide. HT 0-0

In the second half we played some superb stuff and created some good chances. The first goal was real quality play from the back with some great passes that found Jordan who put in a peach of a cross which Lewis took first time with a brilliant goal.  Then we hit the woodwork twice, once from a freekick by Jordan and then a 30 yard rocket by Matty.

The second goal was scored with a beautiful through ball to Josh who let rip and scored hitting the underside of the bar and in. That's the way it stayed with Sholing running out winners. FT 2-0

My final point was a fantastic moment in football. Ben Wells a player from BTC was playing in his last game for the team and was giving a standing ovation by both sets of parents players and ref as he left the field of play. A brilliant moment and proud to say we were part of that. Good luck Ben

10 Apr - Hiltingbury 2-6 Sholing - Tyro Division 1

13 Mar - Winchester 1-8 Sholing - Southampton Tyro Challenge Cup Semi Final Replay

Due to extra time being played last week, when we were later notified it should have gone straight to Penalties, Winchester and Sholing were asked to play the game again.  This time we came out as emphatic winners, but the players of both teams were excellent.  The Tyro Cup Final will be held on 17th April

6 Mar - Winchester 1-2 Sholing (AET) - Southampton Tyro Challenge Cup Semi Final

Edit : Game had to replayed (see above)

A magnificent game of football, resulted in Sholing making it a double in reaching both the Southampton and Hampshire Cup Finals. The boys were superb today. We lost Jamie after 5 minutes due to a grion strain, leaving us with 11 players for the rest of the game. Connor was outstanding in goal, the back four of Owen, Matty, Louie and Joseph, kept the dangerous Winchester striker pairing fairly quiet.

Superb wingers who were up and back all game in the shape of Bailey and Josh, plus excellent central midfield of Jordan and Callum. Then the front two of Lewis and Joseph, who run and run for us. The game was 0-0 at half time, with Winchester scoring early in the second half from a corner.  Then we were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and a brilliant free kick from Bailey levelled the scores to take us into extra time.

Both teams gave everything when a brilliant cross from Owen cleared the Winchester defence with the ball dropping to lewis who calmly slotted home to win us the game. The boys can now look forward to the Southampton and Hampshire Cup Finals.

28 Feb - Hythe 0-10 Sholing

21 Feb - Sholing 1-2 Winchester

U13Jan16

14 Feb - Sholing 2-1 Sarisbury Black

Hampshire Cup Semi Final

A hard fought victory, put Sholing into The Hampshire Cup Final, making it to consecutive Finals in this competition (the highest one we can enter).

This season around 160 teams started out on the Hampshire Cup Path and Sholing are again one game away from winning the Cup. A brilliant achievement to get to the final.

Sholing Youth again played on the first team pitch and a massive thanks to the groundsman all volunteers who managed to get the game played.

The surface considering the rain was in outstanding condition.

The game in the first half was the same story as it has been most season our lack of cutting edge and ability to take chances resulted us in a narrow first half lead. The second half We managed to secure a second goal to give us some breathing space. Sarisbury then went for the game and were given a harshly judged penalty to give them hope in the last 10  minutes.

Only  a fantastic save in Injury time From Connor gave us a narrow victory. Make no mistake this was a tough game and the story of our season so far even though we have won 16/16 games, is our inability to covert so many chances and kill off games. But, we are tough to beat having conceded just 6 goals all season. Winchester await next week in a top of the table clash

7 Feb - Eastleigh 1-6 Sholing

Southampton Tyro Cup ¼ Final

Sholing progressed through to the semi final of the Southampton Cup, with a victory over Eastleigh.

Two of the largest Youth teams in the area produced a great game of football on a tricky playing surface.

Sholing squandered early chances and Eastleigh first attack game them the lead. Sholing played some excellent stuff and were level within 5 minutes. Further first half goals gave us a 1-4 half time advantage.

In the second half, we produced some good football and scored two well work goals to run out 1-6 convincing winners.

The season is now coming to the business end and so far we've played 15 games and them all. The team can continue to be proud of their record. We are into the semi finals of both the Hampshire Cup (defending holders) and the Southampton Cup and sit joint top of the league with Winchester. The next two games are massive, with the semi final of the Hampshire Cup Game and then the massive league game against Winchester which could go along way to deciding the league title.

Please come and cheer on Sholing Under 13s next Sunday in the Hampshire Cup Semi Final. We have been granted permission to use the first team pitch and it's free admission. 11am ko.

24 Jan - Hampshire Cup Quarter Final - Sholing 3-1 Littleton

A solid performance against Littleton puts us in to the Hampshire Cup semi final. As the current holders, there is pressure on this team, which they cope with very well. Today was a dominant display, with a superb goal from Jordan Evans, a 20 yard thunderbolt. There was also a cool Messi type finish from Louie Austin and an intelligent finish from Jack Hobbs, to give us a deserved victory and take our record this season to 14/14 wins.  A Tyro cup 1/4 final awaits us next week against Eastleigh
