Sholing U12's Whites (previously U11 Whites) embark on their 5th season and 2nd in the Tyro league. We train at Test Park on Saturdays and most players attend ETC to further their development.

25 Oct - Colden Common 1-2 Sholing Whites

The lads needed to bounce back from last weeks defeat. A changed side gave starts to the boys left out at the start last week. A very strong bench of Dan Gregory, Harry Thomas and Reece Kempton would give us good options later in the game.
A lively start from the boys taking the game to Colden Common was to prove fruitless, however it looked as if the constant pressure would tell in the end. Chances went begging with a header just wide of the target from Adam French from a Logan Dimond corner and Ben Beadle Tipper who hit the post only for the ball to bounce across the face of the goal and somehow stay out. A stonewall penalty from a handball 5 yards inside the Colden Common box somehow was given as a free kick by the match official, very strange decision. Up stepped Max Davis to take the resulting free kick only to blast the ball straight into the wall. Ben Daglish in goal was rarely troubled in the first half due to some stout defending particularly by Peter Couchman who gave a man of the match performance at centre half. Peter was assisted by Adam French at left back and Lewis Evans called into the right back position today. Lewis showed his versatility and gave a solid performance. HT 0-0
All 3 subs were called into action from the start of the second half. Early on Max Davis now playing up front was played through and made a lovely chip over the stranded Common keeper but this struck the woodwork and it was starting to feel as if it wouldn't be our day. Eventually the pressure told and a great low cross from the right by Logan Dimond found the on running Finley L-W at the far post who stuck it in to put us 1-0 up on 32 min's. However the momentum started to swing and Colden Common were not done yet. On 45 mins after some constant pressure Common found an equaliser levelling the tie at 1-1. Now with the bit between their teeth Common started to heap on the pressure, the common striker made a run through into our box and was brought down in desperation by Ben Daglish who had earlier made a top draw save. This was a defining moment and Ben redeemed himself with a fantastic left handed dive and save to keep us in the game. You could call this justice for the officials poor decision in the first half. With only 5 min's remaining a great run down the right wing by Jack Miles played in Max Davis who found the net making it 2-1. Max is on a great run scoring in the last 7 consecutive matches.
When the final whistle blew the Sholing Whites supporters breathed a huge sigh of relief. Dan and I were off to the nail bar for some new nails and Adams dad needed a lie down after finishing a stint of night shifts and having to run the line in what was a frantic match. The half way point of the league approaches next week. FT 1-2
18 Oct - Sholing Whites 1-4 Pace Cougars

A top of the table clash with Div 1 East coming up against Div 1 West winners from last season. Hopes were high for the Whites in this encounter with Pace having already dropped 3 points so this was a chance to put daylight between the two teams. Both teams started brightly but it was Pace that got off the mark first when a failed clearance dropped into the path of a pace player who stuck it in the net making it 1-0. Soon after a tame effort went in under the Whites keeper putting Pace 2-0 up and in the driving seat. Sholing defended really well despite the scoreline with particularly good performances by both full backs Reece Kempton and Peter Couchman. The pacey right winger was having a great battle with skipper Reece Kempton who was managing to win most of the battles. HT 2-0
In the second half we swapped Harry Thomas from centre mid back in at centre half and moved Jack Miles into a central role alongside Dan Gregory. Jack was replaced on the right side by Lewis Evans. For a while this worked well but then another soft goal gifted Pace a 3-0 advantage that there seemed no way back from. However Max Davis who had worked really hard throughout as our lone striker got us a well deserved goal after an excellent move started on the left wing by Finley L-W found it's way across to Dan Gregory who chipped a lovely pass through to the on running Max Davis who cleverly lobbed the Pace Keeper making it 1-3. This was to be a false horizon as another blunder let Pace in for a 4th to completely finish the tie off. Some good encouragement came from the game and a few lessons were learned along the way. Still top of the league with a long way to go. Can we bounce back next week against Colden Common? FT 1-4
11 Oct - Sholing Whites 3-1 Poole Town

The second round of the Hampshire cup gave us a home tie vs Poole Town. A few changes to how we lined up this week which gave Ben Beadle-Tipper an opportunity playing as our lone striker. Ben's impact on the game was instant when on 8 mins Ben lobbed the defender, then nodded the ball down followed by a volley past the Poole town keeper making it 1-0. Ben then grabbed his second shortly after on 9 mins after a shot by Dan Gregory was parried into Ben's path which he then tucked away from the rebound making it 2-0. We continued to pile on the pressure and were unlucky not to score several more before half time. HT 2-0
At half time all subs were now deployed with the hope that fresh legs would produce more goals to kill the tie off. However we squandered chance after chance, Harry Thomas had a great strike which hit the cross bar and Jack Miles who was having a good game on the right side of midfield narrowly missed when his shot went wide of the post. On 39 mins Poole scored on the break making it 2-1. This is what happens when you fail to convert chances after such dominance. Eventually on 56 mins a powerful run by Max Davis who lofted a cross to the back post found the Poole keeper in no mans land and resulted in killing the game off making it FT 3-1
The draw for the 3rd round see us away to Gosport Pumas
4 Oct - City Central 0 -6 Sholing Whites

Away to City Central at Tauntons college, we thought would provide a decent pitch but think again. A dreadful surface on a small 11-aside pitch with goals that needed making before kick off, resulted in a delay of over half an hour while both sets of parents got busy to make it happen. Still we got there in the end so thanks to all for pitching in.
A slight change to how we lined up today and the 6 inch grass made for a slow start. However some solid defending and persistent attacks finally paid off when Lewis Evans was sent through who then cooly rounded the keeper to make it 1-0 on 13 mins. A minute later Lewis played a square ball into Finley L-W's path who made it 2-0 to get back to scoring ways after a match ban for internal club matters (will he ever learn) !!. Keeper Ben Daglish put hearts in mouths when he decided to perform a drag back in front of goal followed by a step over and then finally played a pass into Reece Kempton. I am sure I heard cries of Ole, Ole. HT 0-2
Isaac Evans came on at half time and made an instant impact to score his first goal of the season from close range making it 3-0. Max Davis added a fourth to make it 4-0 before Isaac grabbed his second making it 5-0. Goal of the match came from a fantastic passing moved which Max Davis blasted home to make it 6-0. Max then failed to grab his hatrick when he turned his effort wide of the post from the penalty spot. FT 0-6
Man of the match went to the ever improving Isaac Evans.
27 Sept - Hedge End Rangers Blue 2 -3 Sholing Whites

Our third consecutive 3-2 win, this time away from home against a spirited Hedge End side. This really was a game of two halves, in the first period the whites played some very high tempo creative play and in doing so created many chances. The first goal was scored by Max Davis on 22 mins who was having a good game demonstrating some great hold up and link up play. He buried his shot after the Hedge End keeper misqueued his kick. Isaac Evans had his first start in the league and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands playing down the left flank terrorising their right back with some powerful runs. Jack Miles was also doing likewise on the right side and was unlucky not to score on several occasions. Our defence when called into action looked solid and at times the football they played was great to see with Peter Couchman at right back, Adam French at Centre half and Reece Kempton at Left back, they held firm and played into the midfield with some intelligent passing football. Ben Daglish in goal also demonstrated how his kicking is improving all the time.
The second goal came when Hedge End played back to their keeper and a miscommunication lead to an own goal making it 2-0 on 27 mins. The lads continued to heap the pressure on and were awarded a free kick on the right side of the Hedge end penalty area. Up stepped a very confident Max Davis who then flashed the ball past their keeper high into the left hand side of the goal making it 3-0 on 27 mins. HT 0-3
One change at half time saw Jack Miles make way for Logan Dimond at right midfield. Not long after a scrambled effort for Hedge End made it 3-1 after a keeping error let them in on 33 mins.
Both remaining subs came on before Hedge End made it 3-2 on 43 Mins. The last 15 mins or so were tight but again several chances went begging and in the end the final score was a little flattering for Hedge End. We have got to learn to convert our chances and put games beyond doubt but overall a very pleasing performance by all. FT 2-3
20 Sept - Ringwood Town 0-25 (TwentyFive) Sholing Whites - Hampshire Cup Round 1

13 Sept - Sholing Whites 3-2 Oakwood Lions

This was always going to be a close encounter, pitching last seasons Div 1 East winners against Div 1 West runners up.
Some lovely passing football right from the first whistle from the Whites, was finally rewarded when Harry Thomas made a powerful run through the middle of the park and unleashed an unstoppable 20 yard shot that put the whites 1 up. With the whites playing out from the back and keeping the width more chances were created. Finley L-W had a great battle with James Shears down the left side. Daniel Gregory who was asked to sit in the middle and build the play did exactly as asked and helped the whites to keep the ball and dominate the middle of the pitch.
The whites second came from a fine team move which started from keeper Ben Daglish who played out to right back Peter Couchman. Peter made a great run down the right flank beating his man and then played a great through ball to Jack Miles. Jack then beat his man and cut in to find Lewis Evans who then chipped through the Oakwood line to find Finley L-W who volleyed into the top corner making it 2-0.
The whites defended solid throughout the first half with Adam French winning his battles in the middle and Reece Kempton and Peter Couchman showing their class at full back. The lions somehow managed to grab a late goal making it 2-1 at half time. Just before half time Max Davis replaced Lewis Evans up top and was instantly involved making life difficult for the Lions. HT 2-1
The second half saw all 3 remaining subs introduced and they all played their part. Max Davis was causing all sorts of problems and showed some really good link up play. Max was rewarded for his contribution when he grabbed Sholings 3rd goal making it 3-1 on 52 mins. Isaac Evans made several strong runs on the left wing and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Logan Dimond had a late effort cleared of the line. Ben Beadle- Tipper played his part at left back and never looked troubled. A bit like last week, a late rally from the opposition saw the Lions score in the last minute. FT 3-2
6 Sep - AFC Hiltingbury Hurricanes 2-3 Sholing Whites

The first game of the season away to a hard working Hiltingbury side saw the lads get off the mark early with only 2 minutes on the clock. Route one, not a tactic we normally look to use, but it worked on this occasion. A long kick from Ben Daglish which cleared the home team defensive line sent Finley through on the left wing, he took a touch out of his feet and shot across the face of the goal with a well struck left foot effort which found the back of the net to make it 1-0. Many chances went amiss during the first period which would have probably killed the tie off, on another day we could have been 4 or 5 up come half time. HT 0-1
The boys were playing some good passing football and looked to be in control but just after half time on 32 minutes Hiltingbury got back on level terms. All 4 subs were now in action and contributing to a good performance. It wasn't long before we were back ahead when Harry Thomas broke through and struck the sweetest of chips leaving their keeper stranded to make it 2-1. One of the highlights of the second half came when Hiltingbury hit a shot that looked set to find the back of the net but somehow Keeper Ben Daglish pulled off a worldy save to deny them an equaliser. Logan Dimond was starting to cause them problems with some clever through balls and some well delivered corners. Finally a great chip from Logan into the path of striker Lewis Evans allowed him to put daylight between the teams when Lewis volleyed home making it 3-1 on 53 mins. However Hiltingbury were not finished yet when they broke through our lines, Keeper Ben Daglish tried to protect the ball to see it out of play but the Hiltingbury striker made several attempts to knock Ben over and virtually mounted his back. However Ben reacted and pulled the lad to the ground resulting in a penalty. The spot kick should never have stood as we should have been awarded a free kick, but that's football you get some decisions and you lose some. The spot kick was converted making the last 5 minutes interesting. FT 2-3
A good overall team performance. Performances of particular note today came from skipper Reece Kempton as solid as ever, Daniel Gregory who started at centre back and then pushed into centre midfield to help us retain possession. But MOTM went to new boy Harry Thomas for a workmen like performance demonstrating why we were so eager to sign him. Up next Oakwood Lions which will be a much sterner test next week at our new home ground of BTC.
30 Aug - Sholing Whites 4-3 Milford-On-Sea
The last pre-season match needed to be positive to erase the memory from the rude awaken given to the team by Farnham Town. After a lively start a defensive error gifted Milford an opening goal. This was quicky followed by a well worked second. The boys reaction was superb, as they quicky got themselves back in the game when Lewis Evans cleverly rounded the keeper. The equaliser came when Ben Beadle Tipper played a long range ball through into the path of Jack Miles. Sholing then took the lead through Harry Thomas who drove his left footed shot high into the top corner of the Milford goal. Milford then levelled despite the constant pressure from the Whites. The winner came from a fantastic team goal with a great link up between Lewis Evans and Finley Lintott- Warrillow who slotted in off the foot of the post.
The league commences next week, the squad looks fit and raring to go.
27 Aug - Sholing Whites 2-8 Farnham Town
The 3rd of our 4 planned pre-eason friendlies, turned out to be a bigger battle then we had expected. Farnham who's have not lost in 6 seasons were a very physical and well organised team who played at a very high tempo. The boys never really got to grips with the game. It was a tough learning experience for the lads. Hopefully all learned from the individual mistakes and the experience will make them even stronger going into what will be our toughest season yet.
Goals came from a penalty scored by Peter Crouchman and a brave headed goal by Finley Lintott-Warrillow. Next up Milford on Sea in our final game before the league commences.
22 Aug - Sholing Whites U12 5-2 Purbeck Stars
A very competitive pre-season match versus a strong side from the Junior Premier League. With a few absentees and a stand in keeper on loan, the boys equipped themselves really well under the searing Test park heat. Harry Thomas was a particular bright note with a high energy performance giving Purbeck many problems in the middle of the pitch. Goals came from Harry Thomas 2, Finley Lintott-Warrillow 1, Lewis Evans 2. Next pre season match this coming Thursday vs Farnham Town.
16 Aug - Sholing U12 Whites first pre season friendly was a highly competitive game against a strong Gosport Pumas side. Goals from Finley Lintott Warrillow, Ben Beadle Tipper, Logan Dimond and Max Davis gave us a 4-2 victory at Test Park. Next up Purbeck All Stars.
A good summer has seen the us win at St Marys, regain the Fawley Falcons event and coming runners up in Greenfields and Hythe events. We go into Tyro Div 1 next season with a strong squad of 13.
Skipper Reece Kempton has a trial at AFC Bournemouth next week and all the boys wish him the best of luck.
24 May - Sholing Whites win St Mary's Tournament
Sholing Whites won the St Marys tournament with a revenge victory over Burnham FC who beat the Whites in the group stages. This was a great way to cap an outstanding season. The final game saw Sholing win 2-0 in a very physical encounter, but our football won out.
