Sholing got back to winning ways with a sparkling victory over in-form Brockenhurst.  Dan Mason grabbed a brace and Lee Wort got off the mark on his return to the club. Lee also set up the last two goals, with Nick Yeoman's firecracker finish rounding off the scoring.

Before the match, group photos were taken of the array of Sholing teams, including 1st team, Ladies, Pan Disability and a huge number of the Youth Teams. As well as, managers, coaches, parents and club volunteers.

Many thanks to all the 464 who came along on Saturday for our Free Admission Day and for the work of club volunteers on the day.

Team News: Byron Mason & Marv McLean were suspended, whilst Barry Mason & Pete Castle missed through injury.  However, Alex Sawyer came through a fitness test to play.  Taking the Captain's armband, was Kevin Brewster, playing in his 428th game for the Boatmen.

On a bitterly cold day, Sholing started the brighter and put the visitors on the back foot immediately. On 8 minutes, the ball fell to Alex Sawyer at the far post, but his shot was deflected away by the keeper.  Two minutes later, Dan Mason dispossessed the last Brock' defender and tried to go round the keeper, who did well to force him wide and block any effort on goal.

Sholing took a deserved lead on 12 minutes. A Kev Brewster freekick, 30 yards out on the right, was swung into the far side of the area, where Owen Roundell did very well to get his head on it and direct it back across goal, where DAN MASON was on hand to hook it over his shoulder and just inside the post.

Brockenhurst were finding it very difficult to create much going forward, with Wessex Prem Leading scorer, Mark Barker, lashing a couple of long range shots well wide and over.

It was no surprise when the Boatmen doubled their lead on the half hour mark. After some pinball in the Brock' penalty area, the ball fell to LEE WORT who turned one way and then another and lashed a shot inside the near post from 10 yards.  It was Worty's first goal on his return to the club and his celebration showed how much it meant to him.

With their tails up, Sholing went on the hunt for more goals with Dan Mason drawing a good full length save from Meher, before Jamie Bulpitt also tested the keeper.

Dan Miller and Owen Roundell were not being troubled, but on 43 minutes, they both did well to block a couple of good openings for the visitors.  Miller then went up for a corner and almost grabbed himself a goal as his shot on the half turn cannoned off the crossbar.  HT 2-0

The pattern of the game continued after the re-start, with Sholing finding lots of space to move forward into and the defence, including energetic full backs, Cherrett & Owen Royl, were clearing up Brockenhurst attacks with relative ease.  On 54 mins, Lee Wort tried his luck from 25 yards out wide, but his effort curled away from the far post, instead of in.

On the hour mark, Sholing had a decent shout for a penalty after good work down the right wing involving Corey Cherrett and Alex Sawyer, saw Jamie Bulpitt wriggle into the box and he seemed to be tripped.  Nothing was given and the ball broke back to Bulpitt, who curled an effort that the keeper dealt with.  Soon after, Corey Cherrett darted into the box from the wing and he almost got there ahead of the keeper as the ball dropped near the penalty spot.

Sholing continued to create half chances, with Jamie Bulpitt breaking up play and launching Sholing forward and Kev Brewster's delivery from corners being a constant cause of panic for the Brock defence.  From one such delivery, Dan Miller had an effort hacked off the line.   For a moment, it seemed as if the home team's dominance wasn't going to be rewarded with more goals, but in last 12 minutes, they finally arrived.

On 78 mins, Lee Wort found space between defenders and lifted a ball through for DAN MASON to run onto and as the keeper came rushing out, D-Dan slotted the ball between his legs and it rolled into the empty net for his 19th of the season.

Four minutes later it was a similar set up, as Wort found substitute, NICK YEOMANS, in behind the defence and from 18 yards out on the right side of the area, he hit a terrific shot across the keeper that nestled into the far corner.

Sholing ran out worthy winners against a team that before kick-off, were above us in the table. An excellent all round team performance in front of a big crowd on a good day for the Boatmen.  FT 4-0
