Mark Stupple’s first outing with Sholing Res resulted in a 6-1 win over Hampshire Puma League side Bush Hill after trailing to a 21st min opener.
The match was agreed to be played over 3 x 30 min session. In the opening 4 mins Sergio Callabero had two efforts but on each occasion fired over the bar. On 10 mins Jamie Mansell slices his effort over the bar. After 21 mins a deep cross in from the right saw the ball loop over a stranded Dan Cox into the far corner to put Bush Hill one up. At the end of 1st 30 mins all subs were made replacing Chris Harvie, Macaully Smith, Sergio Callabero, Ryan Dawson, Owen Roundall & Terry New.
On 38 mins Sholing equalise when Jamie Mansell crossed the ball in low and hard only for the Bush Hill centre back turn the ball into his net for an own goal. 2 mins later Cain Prentice 8 yds out failed to make contact with the ball with the goal at his mercy. However on 44 mins a tackle by Lewis Fear saw the ball fall to Jamie Mansell from 18 yards he drove the ball into the net.
Callum Parker was making his mark on the game first having his shot well saved on 53 mins then on 55 mins chipped the ball over the bar. On 56 mins more changes were made Chris Harvie, Macaully Smith, Ryan Dawson, Sergio Callabero replaced Jacob Joseph, Serge Fon, Dan Dawson, Jamie Mansell.
On 61 mins Cain Prentice bearing down on goal was brought down on the edge of the box Callum Parker’s free kick from 20 yds rattled against the crossbar with goalkeeper beaten. Sholing continued to torment the Bush Hill defence and on 65 mins Macaully Smith pulled the ball back from the byline leaving Ryan Dawson an easy tap in from 10 yds. Cain Prentice continued to cause problems and on 67 mins he was pulled down inside the area and dispatched the resulting penalty kick. At this point Terry New & Jamie Mansell were reintroduced replacing Cain Prentice & Sergio Callaberro.
Sholing put the game beyond Bush Hill with two late goals. On 83 mins Terry New squared for Jamie Mansell to score from 12 yards followed 4 mins later by Macaully Smith setting up Terry New to score Sholing’s sixth goal. With game coming to an end Bush Hill were denied a goal when they struck the post.
