Sholing's awayday woes continued as playoff pushing Yate Town ran out comfortable winners.

Team News: Byron Mason missed out with a knock, Kev Brewster went into midfield with Liam Golding at left back.  Matt Brown made a return to the first team squad on the bench.

Sholing have had a bad habit of starting away games on the back foot and it happened again as the home side started strongly and after a succession of corners, they took the lead on 8 minutes in fortuitous fashion. An inswinging corner clattered off the legs of a defender and over the line.  Southern League website gave the goal to Jackson, but that's probably being generous. There was no doubt about the second goal and it was definitely Jackson who scored it, capitalising on a slip in the defence and firing over Rory Anderson.  The home side threatened to run riot and spent long periods camped deep in the Boatmen's half.  A combination of Rory & TJ denied them a clear opportunity for a third. Sholing's first effort on goal saw the Yate keeper fumble an effort and Nick Watts follow up was deflected over the bar, but the ref gave a goalkick.  Alex Sawyer almost burst through but a heavy first touch allowed the keeper to smother at his feet.  With every 50/50 decision going to the home team a harsh yellow card to Mike Byrne, nothing went the Boatmen's way in the first half, although the home team clearly deserved their lead.  HT 2-0

Things suddenly looked up three minutes into the restart as a corner was met by MIKE BYRNE whose header was well saved but it came back to Byrno to nod into the net.  This breathed new life into Sholing who started playing some football and working the Yate Town defence.  Sadly, we didn't create enough to force an equaliser and on 59 minutes a cross found Jordan Rogers and he squeezed his shot past Rory Anderson and into the corner.  This relaxed the home team and they were able to control the rest of the game and the Boatmen's day was summed up when a harmless looking shot by Jordan Rogers left the usually reliable Rory Anderson embarrassed as it bounced past him for the fourth goal.  FT 4-1

The Boatmen now have a week to regroup before our next game on Saturday at home to Cinderford Town
