Boatmen went out of the Red Insure Cup at Southern League highflyers, Poole Town, but the scoreline probably flattered the hosts.

Team News: Lee Webber returned in goal. Pete Castle's reign as target man lasted one game as he was restored to centre half.  Tobi Adekunle came back in after injury, as did Jude Nwachuwku.  TJ, who has been playing through recent games with a knock was given a deserved rest, meanwhile, Jack Smith completed the last game of his (harsh) suspension.

Poole had two new signings in their line-up, including AFC Bournemouth youth team hotshot, Joe Quigley.  Second in the Southern Premier division, the home side got off to a strong start and took the lead on 12 minutes from a Sholing corner, they broke upfield and a cross was headed in via the post by Roberts.  The lead was doubled when after a run through the midfield, Burbidge's shot was saved by Lee Webber, but the parry fell kindly for Quigley to score on his debut.   Sholing were working hard and playing the ball around well, and Sam Wilson had our best effort, but he was denied by the keeper.  On the stroke of half time, a shot by Burbidge that looked to be heading wide, was deflected off Dan Miller and wrong footed Webbs for an own goal.  HT 3-0

Dave Diaper threw on Dan Mason for the restart, replacing Jude.  Sholing went on to create a few chances in a second half where the tempo dropped the longer the game went on.  Barry Mason had an inviting cross bobble along the goal line but no Sholing foot could make contact and it was cleared.  Barry had a shot fly just over the bar and Liam Golding stopped a certain goal with a last ditch tackle in our 6 yard box, but despite the Boatmen putting in a strong shift, we couldn't force a consolation goal for our efforts.  FT 3-0
