Goals from Jaz Williams, Robyn Holloway, Baylee Sinclair and a brace from Chloe Broadbridge ensured Sholing’s Ladies ran out comfortable winners at the Universal stadium. In their first game at the Universal Stadium this season the Boatwomen ran riot to move above their local rivals in the Hampshire County Women’s League Division Two.
It was actually Burseldon who had the first effort, as Hayley Anderson ran clean through but could only stab wide when one-on-one.
Sholing then clicked into gear and Jaz Williams had their first real chance of the game when she was put through down the right, but shot narrowly wide of the target. It was then Helen Sorensen’s turn to have an effort on the visiting goal, but after weaving her way through a panicked Bursledon midfield she could only shoot well wide.
Sholing almost took the lead on 22 minutes when Kayleigh Rogers went clean through on goal, but after her shot was saved Jaz Williams could only put the rebound into the side-netting.
The hosts finally made their pressure tell a minute later through Jaz Williams as good work on what was fruitful right wing ended with her passing the ball into the bottom corner after receiving it on the corner of the box.
Kayleigh Rogers then almost helped herself to a goal but prodded just wide but it was to get better for Sholing before half-time. Bursledon could have equalised when Hayley Anderson went through but her chip flew just wide of the far post.
Robyn Holloway went on a mazy run from the left hand side and once she’d evaded some half-hearted Bursledon tackles had the presence of mind to delightfully chip the keeper before half-time. HT 2-0
Three minutes after half-time, Baylee Sinclair scored a carbon copy of Robyn Holloway’s goal after yet another run down the channels to effectively end the game as a contest.
From then on it was a case of how many Sholing wanted to score, and Jaz Williams went close again as the visitors stayed very much on the ropes.
On 65 minutes the Boatwomen had the ball in the net once again as Chloe Broadbridge helped herself to her first goal with a header into the far corner from the influential Jaz Williams’ cross.
Four quickly became five as two minutes later Chloe Broadbridge put herself on a quickfire brace by prodding in from a Jaz Williams pull-back as Sholing ran riot.
Home goalkeeper Chloe Renault was reduced to spectator for most of the afternoon but was not to keep her clean sheet, as the dangerous Hayley Anderson this time made no mistake when clean through with 15 minutes to go.
In reality that was only ever going to be a consolation goal and Sholing kept the ball until the end of the game to run out easy winners and remain third in Division Three. FT 5-1 - Report by Jack Prentice
